OUR MISSION
From support groups to funding vital research, our programs sustain the power of hope. Passionately committed patients ourselves, we rally public attention to the urgent needs of the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) community, help patients find strength through support and purpose, and make EVERY dollar count as we work with researchers to regain longevity with quality of life.
OUR MESSAGE TO THOSE WITH METASTATIC BREAST CANCER
Regardless of where you are in your journey, we have been there. Whether you are newly diagnosed and need support, whether you want to help raise awareness of our disease., whether you want to work to increase research, or whether you simply want someone to listen. Call us. We are here for you.
WHAT WE DO
Support - Local. METAvivor has its on local support program operated out of Annapolis, Maryland. We consider a "local" program to be one where members live close enough to get together in person. Persons living as far as Delaware to the east, Washington DC and Virginia to the west and Frederick to the north have joined our local program.
Support - Outreach. METAvivor encourages persons with MBC to start their own local support programs and we offer advice and assistance to anyone, who asks. We welcome new METAvivor Affiliates but happily assist others as well. Visit our Build Your Own Support Group page for suggestions and advice.
Awareness. We advocate that 30% of breast cancer research funding and support activities be devoted to metastatic breast cancer for the simple reason that 30% of breast cancer patients metastasize. Learn more...
Research. METAvivor awards annual metastatic breast cancer research grants with the goal of transitioning our disease to a survivable condition with a decent quality of life. Learn more...
OUR FUNDING
Donations. 100% of every donation goes into our research grants unless otherwise specified by the donor.
Fundraisers. 100% of proceeds from every fundraiser after expenses go into our research grants.
Grants received. METAvivor works to obtain grants to support our operations, including website development, office supplies and other basic expenses as well as to fund our support and awareness programs.
Corporate sponsorships. Corporate sponsorships are of tremendous assistance as we grow and expand our programs.
