About Us - Board of Directors,
Born and raised in India, Arti Santhanam came to the USA for her graduate studies. In 2005 she received her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
That same year, Dr. Santhanam joined the National Cancer Institute as a Cancer Research Training Award Fellow. Her studies included several multidisciplinary projects aimed at understanding the molecular role of the tumor suppressors in breast carcinogenesis. She is currently an independent consultant to the MITRE Corporation and the NCI.

Ovarian Cancer Survivor
Arti is also an ovarian cancer survivor and has experienced the devastation of breast cancer metastasis when her maternal aunt was diagnosed with the disease. She is therefore acutely aware of the progress, challenges and the potential for research in resolving this major health issue.
Arti met CJ in 2008 at the Joint Metastasis Research Society-AACR Conference held in Vancouver BC and since then has volunteered for METAvivor events and proceedings. As METAvivor's new Director of Research, she is now directly involved in METAvivor's research endeavors.
