JOIN OR START A STATE LIAISON TEAM

We seek to build liaison teams in every state. These teams will work within their states to identify and increase support, build greater awareness and advertise fundraisers. State teams can post their efforts on our website, sharing ideas with other state teams and on occasion coordinating their efforts to coincide with a nationwide, metastatic breast cancer (MBC) initiative. We believe that by working state-by-state we can create a national groundswell that will ultimately bring about the changes our community so urgently needs. The goal is to have sufficient volunteers in each state so that the effort is not overly taxing for any one individual.  For more information, contact the METAvivor Outreach Program.

PROMOTE OR SPONSOR FUNDRAISERS

Promote or Sponsor Fundraisers: Fundraising events not only raise funds for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research, but also help build awareness in the geographical regions where they are held. METAvivor sponsors three fundraisers every year in the Annapolis, Maryland area. But these alone could never wholly fund our research grants. Additional funding that comes from donations and from third-party fundraisers is critical to the cause. Below are several ways you can help.  For more information, contact METAvivor Fundraising.

  • Approach organizations that do fundraisers every year for different charities and ask them to designate METAvivor as their charity of choice for their next fundraiser.

  • Ask friends and family to sponsor your participation in a race, tournament of other event.

  • Encourage friends and family to donate to the METAvivor research fund in celebration of your life.

  • Organize your own fundraising event such as dinners, silent auctions, races, wine parties, fashion shows, dances, and other events with the proceeds going to the METAvivor research fund.

COMPUTER ASSISTANCE

We need a person in each state, who is able to put together and update as necessary a state page for metastatic breast cancer happenings in their state. Information would be coordinated with the state team and with persons in the state doing fundraisers. The state page would be posted on the METAvivor website.  For more information, contact METAvivor Information.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE IT HAPPEN

At METAvivor, we believe the metastatic breast cancer community could achieve more in terms of increasing support, building awareness and promoting metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research if there were a coordinated effort nationwide. Our idea is to facilitate such an effort by building a core team of volunteers, state-by-state, who can work locally while contributing to the nationwide effort.

We invite you to look at the volunteer opportunities below and let us know if you would like to, and be able to assist. Volunteers can include people with the disease, their friends and family, researchers, medical professionals, social workers and other individuals, who are interested in promoting the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) cause.

Interested parties are also encouraged to contact us with their own ideas and suggestions for bringing metastatic breast cancer (MBC) to the forefront.
