Access to support can make an enormous difference in the ability of a patient to cope with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer (MBC). We hope the information offered here will help persons diagnosed with MBC find new types of support, new circles of friends and new sources of inspiration.
We are not looking to reinvent the wheel. Where we find excellent lists of consolidated resources, we will provide links rather than re-list them here. Our efforts will be directed at finding gaps in information and working to fill those gaps. At present, we offer the following:
TYPES OF SUPPORT PROGRAMS. We hear from many people looking for support, but finding none. In this section we list various types of support programs and give suggestions for finding what you are looking for.
BUILD YOUR OWN SUPPORT. For those wanting to start their own support programs, we give a short intro on the easiest way to do that. Do not hesitate to email us with your questions.
NEW METAvivor BLOG. Some of our blog spots will be written by those with MBC, others by those who have had breast cancer but have not metastasized, others by doctors, some by social workers and there will be more. EACH, however, must directly relate to metastatic breast cancer. The blog site is the work of Kathi of Accidental Amazon fame. We are very grateful for her efforts on our behalf. YOUNG ADULT BLOG. The METAvivor BLOG will have a special section devoted to young adults with MBC. We are delighted to have this under the direction of MBC "thriver" Jennifer Smith, a young, single mother. We invite you to contact Jennifer directly with your comments, ideas and writings. THE META BOOK NOOK. Find a new book review every month. Each book will related specifically to metastatic breast cancer. The host of this site will be METAvivor Donna Gorman. Some of you will have seen Donna in the METAvivor video that has been showing in the Pink Well competition. Send your comments and book suggestions to info@metavivor.org.
METAVIVOR IS AN ALL-INCLUSIVE ORGANIZATION. Do you have a special MBC patient group that is not represented? Let us know. We are an all-inclusive organization that welcomes all religions, races, orientations and other categories.
