Director of Peer-to-Peer
At METAvivor, we believe in the power of peer connection—especially for those living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC). That’s why our Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Support Group Leader Program exists: to foster meaningful, patient-led support rooted in understanding, empathy, and shared experience.
We’re thrilled to announce that so far in 2025, we’ve trained 18 new P2P volunteers, representing 11 different states across the country. These dedicated individuals now join a growing network of leaders who provide vital connection and support for others living with MBC in their local communities.
Unlike traditional support groups in medical settings, the METAvivor-trained, peer-led support program takes place out in the community—in welcoming, informal environments like libraries, coffee shops, or members’ homes. These groups are exclusively for MBC patients, led by fellow MBC patients, creating a uniquely safe and understanding space.
The gatherings are open and inclusive of all members, allowing them to speak freely on any topic. The leader’s role is to coordinate logistics, recruit new members, keep in touch with current ones, be available for phone calls, and rally support when someone needs extra care. Leaders also provide the group with helpful resources and ensure each gathering offers a comfortable, supportive environment. Whether it’s sharing information and challenges or simply relaxing and chatting with friends who truly understand, these groups are designed to meet the real needs of those living with MBC.
We are continually growing this program and invite others living with MBC who are interested in becoming P2P Support Group Leaders to apply. Training is held virtually and equips you with the tools, guidance, and encouragement to create and sustain a group in your own area.
