Breast cancer fundraisers are everywhere, but most of the money raised goes toward breast cancer prevention and early detection efforts. Very little of it, only 2-3%, is dedicated toward research for Stage IV, metastatic breast cancer.  METAvivor is the only organization that solely funds MBC research through a scientific peer review process. 100% of all donations go into MBC-specific research grants. METAvivor is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

REMEMBER METAVIVOR IN YOUR WILL

We are frequently asked how an individual can bequeath a donation to METAvivor Research and Support in their Last Will and Testament.  Arranging to have all or a portion of your estate go to METAvivor’s Research Fund upon your death is a most generous final act.  We suggest you discuss the various options with your lawyer and offer verbiage below that you might consider.

SPECIFIC BEQUESTS should read:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to METAVIVOR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT (EIN 37-1578088) IN ANNAPOLIS MD , the sum of $________(or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of its metastatic breast cancer research fund.”

RESIDURY BEQUESTS are made when you intend to leave the residue portion of your assets after other terms of the will have been satisfied.  These should read:

"All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to METAVIVOR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT (EIN 37-1578088) IN ANNAPOLIS MD for its metastatic breast cancer research fund.”

CONTINGENCY BEQUESTS allow you to leave a portion of your estate to a particular charity if your named beneficiary does not survive you.  These should read:

"I devise and bequeath the residue of the property, real and personal and wherever situated, owned by me at my death, to (name of beneficiary), if (she/he) survives me. If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to METAVIVOR RESEARCH AND SUPPORT (EIN 37-1578088) IN ANNAPOLIS MD, for its metastatic breast cancer research fund."
